EVENT DESCRIPTION

RadioU 88.7, a member of the Spirit Communication family invites you take participate in its 2nd annual 5K event. The Friday evening 5K run is part of the City of Westerville’s 4th Friday celebration. You can run or walk then stay afterwards and take part in a fun and festive celebration!

All race proceeds benefit Spirit Communications, a 501(3) non-profit organization located in Westerville, Ohio.

Who is RadioU? RadioU, is an FM radio station in Westerville, Ohio which also provides its programming via satellite to a network of radio stations nationwide. RadioU is owned and operated by Spirit Communications, Inc., a 501(3) non-profit organization, which also operates TVU Music Television, and its Website, TVULIVE.COM.

RadioU’s programming targets 12-24 year olds with a message of hope and encouragement through an eclectic mix of popular music. The music and programming promote anti-drug and anti-violence messages, while upholding positive lifestyle messages to its student-age audience.

RadioU provides solid, uplifting alternatives to other radio programming aimed toward high school and college-age students. RadioU works closely with The HelpLine, a call center organization that provides prayer and referral services to those in need. Spirit Communications’ non-commercial FM radio station in Columbus, Ohio also provides airtime to other non-profit organizations, hosts and promotes events each year to reinforce its positive lifestyle messages among area students, has produced a series of high school assemblies focused on drunk driving issues, and is an active voice for public service to the area.

RadioU plays no paid-for commercial advertising, receives no state or federal government funding, and is not owned by a large corporate broadcasting company. Operating expenses are covered by donations received from the public.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The run and walk starts and finishes at Alum Creek Park at 221 W. Main Street in Westerville. Athletes will exit the park, cross over Alum Creek and head south alongside Alum Creek on the paved multipurpose trail. Participants will follow the pathway for approximately 1.3 miles to the turnaround point at 1.55 miles. Participants will turnaround and make their way back along the trail to Alum Creek park. Along the pathway they be able to high-five other participants still heading out to the turnaround point.

EVENT RULES

Participants must wear assigned number on the front of your shirt or shorts. Your number must be visible to checkpoint recorders at all times.

AWARDS

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following divisions:

  • Overall
  • 19 & Under
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70 and over
  • Walking Division

Award Availability – Awards are ordered 10 days prior to the event and based on registration. For the smaller participated race divisions, it is important to sign up as soon as possible to ensure an award is ordered.

SHIRTS AND AMENITIES

Athletes must be registered 15 days from the event date to be guaranteed an event shirt. Athletes registering within 15 days of the event date will need to sign an event shirt waiting list at athlete check-in and then check back after the race for shirt availability.

Shirt size selected during registration will be the shirt size given you at athlete check-in. If the shirt size selected by you during registration is the incorrect size, you will need to complete a shirt size transfer list at athlete check-in. You will be required to check back after the race for size availability.

DIRECTIONS

From Delaware to Race Site – Take SR 36/37 to I-71 South. Take I-71 to I-270 East. Exit Cleveland Avenue and take North exit. Continue North on Cleveland Ave to Main Street. Turn RIGHT. Park is about a ½ mile on your right.

From Columbus to Race Site – Take I-71 North to I-270 East. Take I-270 to Cleveland Avenue and take North exit. Continue North on Cleveland Ave to Main Street. Turn RIGHT. Park is about a ½ mile on your right.

From Dublin to Race Site – Take I-270 East to Cleveland Avenue and take North exit. Continue North on Cleveland Ave to Main Street. Turn RIGHT. Park is about a ½ mile on your right.
