EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Open Water Swims series - Swim #1 takes place at Alum Creek State Park – site to one of Ohio’s largest inland’s largest body of water. The Alum Creek Reservoir contains 3,387 acres of water. The broad expanse of the lake south of Cheshire Road is a boater's paradise with unlimited horsepower and plenty of room for skiers. The northern portion offers a quieter scene with tree-lined shores, shale cliffs and sheltered inlets for canoeists. Alum Creek State Park is a hub of recreational activity just minutes from Ohio's capital city.

The open water swims feature three distances – 0.75K, 1.5K, and 3.0K swims. Swimmers can do one or all three distances. Most swimmers compete in more than one distance. Each swim starts in a time trial fashion which creates an interesting and exciting swim. Swimmers include age group to master and triathletes. A number of triathletes use the swims as training or even a warm-up before the triathlon the next day.

The event is sanctioned by Ohio LMSC for USMS, Inc. and by Ohio Swimming Inc. for USA Swimming.

Part of your entry fee goes to the Alum Creek State Park’s general park fund to help support and maintain the park’s facilities and conservation programs.
