EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Arnold Sports Festival is A Weekend of Sports and Fitness hosting 29 sports and 36 sporting events. More than 17,000 athletes and 170,000 sports fans watch three days of athletic competition that tests human capabilities in the widest variety of sports in one place for so many athletes than any other event in the world. The weekend events also include the Arnold EXPO. The Arnold Expo is the largest health and fitness expo in the country with 650 booths showcasing healthy lifestyle products and methods to more than 150,000 fitness fans in three days of free entertainment and competition from top professional and amateur athletes.

In partnership with the Arnold Sports Festival, Fat Rabbit Racing will produce the Arnold Cycling Challenge in downtown Columbus, OH on March 2, 2008. The Criterium race will be Open to CAT I – V, Masters, Juniors and Female cyclists.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the Official and Honorary Criterium Starter.

This event will be held rain or shine.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The event starts along the Scioto River on the east side of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) off Washington Blvd. Cyclists will complete a 1.02 mile loop from Broad Street to Civic Center Dr to Town Street to Washington. The course is flat and fast and features two bridge crossings over the Scioto River.

EVENT RULES

Registration opens at 8:00 am and closes 30 minutes prior to each category start. Registration will take place at Riverfront Park on Washington Blvd.

Participants and spectators can park at the parking lots west of COSI.

All cyclists must have a USCF license or purchase a one-day license at the race.

Fat Rabbit Racing and USCF Officials reserve the right to change the course and start times as they deem necessary for safety and event participant experience purposes.

Helmets are mandatory for all divisions. Helmet and bike safety checks are available prior to each race.

Participants must wear assigned number on the side of your shirts. Your number must be visible to checkpoint recorders at all times. If chip timing is available, attach timing chip to your ankle with the provided strap. You will not be scored at the finish line unless your number is visible and your timing chip is attached when you cross the finish.

Masters are 35+ years of age and Cat III-IV.

All athletes must be present to receive awards. No awards will be mailed, delivered, or dropped-off. If you must leave the event before receiving your award please make arrangements with a friend or family member to get your award or discuss with finish line management. Participants contacting us after the event to claim award will be referenced to the award policy.

Field Minimums: If the number of entries for a given race is less than the minimum size at the close of entries or within 30 minutes of the specified starting time, we reserve the right to cancel the race and refund entry fees less $10 to cover fixed course costs, or combine the race and as many prize from its prize list as there were riders who registered for the cancelled race with another race.

ENTRY FEE

Entry Fees below do not reflect one-day license fee for cyclists who are NOT members USA Cycling. We are required to collect these license fees and pass them directly to the appropriate event sanctioning body. ALL non-members are required to pay the one-day license fee. No exceptions.

From Delaware to Race Site – Take SR 23 South to I-270 East to I-71 South – Take I-71 South to Broad Street exit. Turn RIGHT onto Broad Street. Take Broad Street through Downtown Columbus about 3 miles to COSI. Turn LEFT into parking lost on west side of COSI on Bell Street.

From Columbus to Race Site – Take I-71 South to Broad Street exit. Turn RIGHT onto Broad Street. Take Broad Street through Downtown Columbus about 3 miles to COSI. Turn LEFT into parking lost on west side of COSI on Bell Street.

From Dublin to Race Site – Take I-270 East to I-71 South – Take I-71 South to Broad Street exit. Turn RIGHT onto Broad Street. Take Broad Street through Downtown Columbus about 3 miles to COSI. Turn LEFT into parking lost on west side of COSI on Bell Street.
